Top Ten Hair Products of All Time

I know that is a bold statement. But I am not one to beat around the bush. When I find something amazing, I want to TELL you about it!  I have washed HUNDREDS of heads of hair, THOUSANDS of times.

One of the perks of running a personal business is that I am not tied to any one particular brand. This allows me to suggest products across all different brands and lines depending on what I have found to be the best.

Top Ten Hair Products:
(If you want to skip the words and just look at the pictures, just click on this link)

1. Sebastian Drench Shampoo and Conditioner:-
Perfect for hydrating without making your hair heavy! I use this daily and it leaves my hair feeling so soft. The initial bottle feels like an investment but it only takes a small amount of product to make a big difference so the bottles will last you for months.

2. Oligo Blue Shampoo:
This will cancel out any unwanted ORANGE tones from highlighted hair. It is a miracle worker and I recommend it to all of my blonde clients who are trying to keep an ashy shade between visits.

3. Aveda Smoothing Lotion:
I have been using this for years as a smoothing serum for hair. It is perfectly lightweight for re-application throughout the day as needed. Put a penny size dab on your hand, rub the product all over the front and back of your hands, start at the back underside of your hair and pull toward the ends. I love this especially for extensions or naturally dry hair. If you have oily scalp but dry ends this is the product for you so you don't have to switch up your shampoo regimen.

4. Kenra Fast Dry Hairspray:
Flexible but high hold. Perfect.

5. Big Sexy Dry Shampoo:
Every woman in america should own this product. It is a necessity. Seriously. I had never even heard of dry shampoo until I went to beauty school but once I did I have never been without it. This brand is my favorite for making my hair feel like I actually got the oil out as well as not showing up white on my dark hair.

6. Bedhead manipulator:
This is the product I use daily on my boys' hair. My husband also uses it. I love that it has a matte finish and is lightweight enough to reapply when needed. It also combs out very easily the next morning.

7. American Crew Fiber:
While the Bedhead Manipulator is my go-to product for the boys in my life, I also love American Crew Fiber if your boy's hair is more wiry or thicker and the Bedhead can't quite keep control of it. It is a stronger product with a more firm hold and works great for thick and coarse men's hair.

8. Kenra Heat Protectant:
Yes you need a heat protectant spray. Let me put it this way, when you heat your oven to 325 degrees and you go to pull the cookies out, you use an oven mit to protect your hand. When you heat your styling tool up to 400 degrees (too hot but I totally have done this) you ALSO need to protect yourself! A few sprays on wet hair and the product will burn off instead of your hair.

9. Dumb Blonde Reconstructor:
If you have severely damaged and highlighted hair, or even if you are just looking for a good deep conditioner, this is the choice for you. Apply to DRY hair while you watch a movie and allow your hair at least 40 minutes to soak it up before rinsing it out.

10. Nioxin/Biotin- Hair Thickening:
This is the only product I haven't tried personally but throughout my entire professional career and through client discussion, this is the only product I have heard of that actually thickens hair. What happens is that the product swells the diameter of the hair shaft when you use it, which means you must KEEP using it to keep seeing results. When you stop using it the results will fade. As with everything in my profession, results are temporary. Men tend to use Nioxin, and women tend toward Biotin. Biotin can either be purchased in a supplement form, or more recently in shampoo form.

BONUS! Top 5 beauty products!
Congratulations on making it this far. As an added bonus I have included my top five beauty products. I am no makeup artist by any means. I am the definition of a 7-minute face (only slightly more involved than the 5 minute face) so most of my knowledge I have actually acquired from other bloggers like

1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pomade (Eyebrow filler)::
This has been an absolute GAME CHANGER for me! I have zero eyebrows. Seriously. I have no idea why but they have never existed except for when I was 13 and also had braces and acne. Isn't that always the way? In any case, this has been incredible for me. I use a small angled brush to apply, begin in the middle of your brow and feather towards the center of your eyes and the end of your brow. Applying it this way creates the darkest area above your eye where it would naturally fall. Just be sure to get the shade you need to match your coloring.

2. Whatup Beaches Matte Bronzer
Girl I live for the day that I will have a constant summer glow. However, when this isn't possible, I still want to have a nice bronze sheen without looking like I just put mud on my face. This bronzer is incredible. It is a little more expensive but it lasts months and gives a perfect matte finish.

3. BH cosmetics eyeshadow kit:
I love everything about this shadow set. The colors are natural but not so much you can't tell what you just put on. I use the same set as a blush for my cheeks as well so it is all in one.

4. 32 Piece Brush set:
Buying brushes one at a time can get really pricey really fast. So, instead I recommend this
32 piece set that is only $20! I use a different brush for each color of my eyeshadow, still have plenty for blush and bronzer application. It rolls up into itself so you don't have to worry about your brushes getting smashes or mishapen.

5. NYX Setting Spray::
I know it seems counterintuative to put liquid on your face in order for your makeup to stay but I promise this makes a difference. Spritzing a little after your makeup application allows it to set and stay instead of mysteriously disappearing halfway through the day like mine used to do.

Thanks for checking in! A new IGTV episode is up showing each of these products, as well as a new quick Instagram stories video for you where I show you how I apply my eyebrow pomade every morning. I assure you it's slightly horrific because my face has to be so close the camera but it is helpful if you need a visual. Check it all out on IG @kristidbennett
